UKAS Calibration at Dumfries and Galloway NHS Trust
Datum: 2nd December 2020
With a view to making sure our customers are happy with our UKAS calibration and validation service, we recently spoke to Adele Foster, Lead Biomedical Scientist at Dumfries and Galloway NHS Trust, to ask about her experience of the service over the last four years.
“We have used Don Whitley Scientific (DWS) for our UKAS Calibration since 2016. They calibrate our A35 Anaerobic Workstation as well as our fridges, freezers, incubators and our cold room. We tie in the other products when we have the workstation calibrated so they can all be done in one visit, which makes it much more cost-effective, although DWS are competitively priced.
We get our certificates through quickly and are happy with the time frame. I’m always pleased that the engineers take the time to discuss the findings with us before they leave so the results don’t come as a surprise. They explain everything well and give us the good news and the bad so we know we are up-to-date and well informed.
We don’t find the calibration day to be particularly invasive as we generally do a plan at the beginning so can arrange any equipment transfers in advance. When the DWS engineers arrive on site, they help us keep the staff informed about where they will be working. They work with us to make it as smooth a process as possible.”
Finally, we asked Adele if she would recommend DWS to others as a supplier of UKAS temperature calibrations and she answered, “Yes, I would. We have never had any problems and have always been able to talk to our DWS engineers. They even tidy up after themselves! The whole process is well organised and it’s always easy to set up via email. Sally Baines [service co-ordinator] keeps everything running smoothly.”
